Just the story of how the studio came into being and how we progress.

Where it all started.

I started running a Photography club back in January 2024 in my nearest village because I wasn't happy with any of the local or not so local camera clubs, I know, its probably down to the way I am put together but they just didn't work for me. South East Sheffield Photography Club has grown slowly but the photographers that have joined us from other clubs comment that whatever your problem someone will offer help - young or old, male or female that's just how we do it.

Then I retired - that was hard work, then the wife retired more hard work adjusting to absolutely no routine at all. In the preceding years I had tried several different studios to continue my photography (a space where you are in control - as opposed to the weather or whether the animals / birds are coming out to play today being in control) in quite a considerable radius some very good in some aspects but bad in others - set me wondering - could I create a studio based on all the good things I had worked with and avoid the aspects that were not so good.

Woodhouse my nearest village used to have a housing office - this was being offered for let by the Sheffield City Council, well that wasted 3 months of my life, viewing, making a bid, waiting for a reply - any reply and finally they decided to take it off the market. I started looking at Industrial units within about a 5 mile radius of my home. Six whole months later after expressing interest through a website - no reply, viewing some premises when you did get a reply then being blanked completely. Even after being told "we can send you the heads of agreement this afternoon, soon as that is signed we can send you a draft contract" and then being blanked - what does someone have to do in this country to start a business in commercial premises? I think I know the answer - already have a business running in commercial premises... and just be looking to expand or re-locate.
